As you may have guessed, I’m Todd, a thrifty saver and the founder of this website! I am a lifelong student of personal finance who achieved financial freedom at 35!
Getting better with money isn’t as hard as you may think. In fact, small changes in the way you manage your finances will compound and catapult you towards goals faster than you ever thought possible!

You are not alone. I had these thoughts, too.
I started this website as a way to help people better understand their money, especially since personal finance isn’t taught in school and is a foreign subject to most. Over the years, I’ve helped countless friends and clients get out of debt, stick to a budget, and save money for their most important financial goals. The principles I use come from the plan I developed to “retire” early. My strategy includes saving more, working less, and spending time with the people that matter most. And let’s not forget crossing some items off your bucket list along the way! By using this website, you’ll be able to spend less time searching the internet for ways to save money, giving you more time to spend working on getting the things you want out of life!
Growing up in Charlotte, NC, I always had a fascination with how money worked. I was curious why some people had it and others always seemed to struggle with it. My grandmother, who grew up during the Depression, had a huge influence on me. She was constantly saving everything, like half used paper towels, pieces of ripped cloth, and paper…can we talk about the paper! She was a living example of the motto, “A penny saved is a penny earned.” I followed in her footsteps for years until I attended college at the University of Florida. During this time, I started several small businesses and it became clear that in order to make money as an entrepreneur you needed money up front to get started and eventually become profitable. Slowly, I began to realize that the more I could save, the more I could invest. The more I could invest, the more money I would have working for me and creating income. With passive income, I’d have money coming in to pay bills which would give me more free time to travel, have fun, and pursue life outside of a 9 to 5 job!
After graduating cum laude with a degree in finance, I started working for a Fortune Global 500 Company. Less than a year later, I was laid off due to the Great Recession. During this difficult period, I promised myself that I would work tirelessly to learn how to save money, invest it and ultimately live life on my terms!
Nearly 12 years after my commitment, I was able to achieve my dream of financial freedom! Ever since that moment, I’ve been thinking of how I can help others achieve their dreams, and thus this website was born!
I am a tightwad, so money is constantly on my mind. I’m obsessed with finding new ways to be more frugal with money, invest, and make it work harder. This site will save you time and money on your path to living a truly rich life!
Unlike many other personal finance websites, you won’t find any sponsored content here. All the advice I give is my own (or a guest columnist) and the products I recommend are the ones that I use. My mission is to help you with your finances, so you can achieve your life long goals! I didn’t start this site as a way to make money, but as a way to make a difference.
